Line Drawing Buildings

Detailed line drawings have always been part of my drawing style. It was important to me to include this in this project as it is a strength of mine. I decided to do a drawing of the lane in perspective as it shows the length and the different sections of the lane as well. This drawing includes lots of solid black shapes contrasted with the pattern of the brick on the buildings. I think it needed these solid black sections to distract your eye from all of the different patterns and details happening in the drawing.

I like the style of this drawing, with it looking rather clean but not completely perfect. I think this adds personality and character to the drawing, making it personal to my drawing style as well as being as unique as the lane itself.

Alongside this drawing, I decided to do drawings in a concertina sketchbook to show the length of Fournier Street. Initially, starting at the 10 Bells Pub, these drawings were rather rough and not too precise. But as I continued drawing, my style became more precise and intricate. I don’t really like this intricate style of the drawings as I have done that style in the drawing of Brick Lane.

However, this style does connect these two drawings together and makes for a cohesive style. I decided to do a rougher style for the concertina sketchbook as I wanted the drawings to be very quick and not take too much of my time. It also helped me to show the age of the buildings and the historic nature of that street.
